Why I’m Choosing Intentions Over Resolutions

Over the years, I’ve set plenty of resolutions. Some I’ve achieved, some I haven’t — and honestly, that’s okay. As time’s gone on, my mindset has shifted. I’m less focused on rigid goals and more interested in growth, balance, and how I actually want my life to feel. That’s why I’m choosing intentions over resolutions.

2026 already feels like a big and exciting year. Elliott and I aren’t just saving for our own place anymore — we also got engaged on the 27th of December 2025, which means we’re now saving for our wedding too. It’s a lot, but it’s also something really special to look forward to and we are both so excited!

This year is going to be fun, but it’s also going to be a hard-working one. We’re saving for our home, planning ahead for our 2027 holiday, and putting money aside for the wedding. It’s a busy season of life, but it’s one that feels purposeful and exciting rather than overwhelming.

My main intention for the year is to enjoy it. To make memories with my fiancé, family, and friends, while also working hard and saving even harder so we can step into our next chapter in 2027 feeling proud and secure.

There are some practical intentions too — selling, saving, and organising — all the not-so-glamorous things that quietly move life forward.

On a more personal level, I want to make progress with my novel, continue improving my blog and its social platforms, and grow my small handmade business. These are things that bring me joy and a sense of fulfilment, and I want to give them the time and energy they deserve.

Mentally and physically, I’m being gentler with myself. I want to look after my health without pressure or unrealistic expectations no extremes, no guilt, just consistency and care.

And one thing I definitely plan to keep is my love of travel. Exploring new places, making memories, and having things to look forward to will always be important to me.

This year isn’t about ticking boxes or chasing perfection. It’s about intention, balance, and enjoying where we are while working towards what’s next.
