Elliott and I brunched at The Peggy Jean boat in Richmond on our last trip to London, and of course food reviews are one of my favourite topics to write about so here it is.

I had the sweetcorn fritters with smashed avocado, poached eggs, red pepper, habanero and almond sauce, and feta with a corn rib. ⭐⭐⭐
The presentation was beautiful, and the taste was very nice. However, the sweetness from the sweetcorn fritters was a bit too overpowering. When paired with the feta, it balanced the flavours nicely, so I would suggest adding more feta to the dish, as the amount given was quite small. Overall, the dish was gorgeous to look at, and the egg was cooked well.

For a drink, I had a hot chocolate, which unfortunately wasn’t the tastiest. It had a lovely frothy top however it was half of the glass but more importantly the lack of flavour and was more bitter than sweet. ⭐⭐

Elliott had the Fancy Bacon Roll with poached eggs, crispy onions, back bacon, holy f\*ck hollandaise, chilli, and paratha roti. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Elliott thought the fancy bacon roll was very tasty and full of flavour, with a nice level of spice until the end, when it became too hot and overpowering.

The staff were friendly but not quite as professional as I would have hoped. I understand how busy this type of job can be from experience, but certain things must be kept on top of to ensure happy customers. It was a bit disappointing that our food arrived, and we had no cutlery; we had to ask for it, and it took quite a while for us to receive the bill.
Overall, it was a nice afternoon, but as someone who has experience in customer service and restaurant work, I feel they are lacking in training and should be given more support.
Also, a little tip for anyone who would like to brunch at Peggy Jean, Make sure to book, as they were very busy and just able to squeeze us in.
