My Happy Place
You know that one special place that you go to just to take a breath, to let go of any negativity that you're feeling, that place that just makes your brain go quiet. Well, I have never had that. I've never had a happy place. But after my most recent trip to Devon, I realised I do now. My happy place is the beach, but not just any beach. Bigbury beach in Devon has been one of my favourite places since my very first trip.
Feeling my feet sink into the sand, listening to the sound of the ocean and seagulls, breathing in the Devon air, and looking out over the ocean as it sparkles, I feel the water going from warm to cold the further I step in. I can feel the stress, the worries, the fears, all the negativity slip away as if the beach releases me from all that I feel, even if it's only for a few minutes.
My recent visit in May really made me realise that this beach was my happy place. As well as indulging in the beautiful beach, I loved exploring the cliffs, seeing little beach creatures, and just enjoying the simplicity of it all. Another reason I love this place is that it's a place where my boyfriend and I can just take a minute together. We both lead such busy lives, but when we are here, everything just stops. I always say there is no such thing as perfect, but if there was, this is what it would look like.
What's your happy place? Or have you yet to discover yours too?
