I can honestly say I was completely blindsided. I didn’t expect it in the slightest and even now, writing about it, I still can’t quite believe that I’m engaged!

For any new readers, me and Elliott have been in a long-distance relationship for just over four years. Four years of FaceTimes, travelling back and forth, counting down days, and making it work so this moment feels even more special.

Now, the proposal… like I said, totally blindsided.

We’d had a really lovely day out, followed by dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was very delish. Afterwards, Elliott wanted to take pictures in front of the beautiful Christmas trees, and he kept insisting. Honestly, I just thought he was being cute because it was my birthday weekend getaway. At no point was I expecting what came next.

Then, out of nowhere, he got down on one knee and said, “Bubba, I love you so much, will you marry me?”

My face literally dropped. I was in pure shock happy shock, of course. I felt completely overwhelmed with joy, excitement, and happiness all at once.

Elliott was brilliant at keeping it a secret (especially since he’s definitely not a liar). We tell each other everything, so the fact that I didn’t catch on at all just makes it even better. I genuinely had no idea.

Elliott is my rock, my happiness, my support, my everything for over four years now. I can’t even put into words how much I love him and how happy he makes me but I do know one thing for! sure: I can’t wait to spend forever with him.
