The Ultimate Debate: Love or Money - Which Matters More?

Choosing someone with a great financial situation is a key in finding true love.

So, I happened to be watching 'This Morning' and was shocked at this topic that was spoken about. It’s actually been said that 50% of people believe this statement is true. However, in my opinion, this makes no sense. Call me too sentimental, but I believe in actual love, the spark of a connection, and not the number of zeros in someone's bank account. I agree people want to feel safe and secure when it comes to love, but nothing is secure about love. It’s risky, it takes you out of your comfort zone, challenges you, and makes you make decisions even though you don’t know what the outcome is going to be.

I mean, let’s create a scenario here. Someone asks you out, and you respond with, 'What? That depends on what your financial situation is like?' Surely not. I mean, let’s be honest; One, it’s a personal piece of information; Two, it’s really rude, and Three, at one point in life, actually scratch that, even now in present-day, this sort of statement would blow up words like 'gold digger,' 'selfish,' 'fake,' and ‘heartless.'

I'm not saying it’s not okay to want to protect yourself, and it's understandable to have standards, but love isn’t something to control or predict because love is the complete opposite it's spontaneous and unpredictable. Even if you choose someone with the perfect financial situation, what if there is no spark, no connection, no love? Are you going to be happy, or are you going to be in a strong, financially stable but lonely relationship? Nothing about that sounds like love to me.

What is really important to you: money or love? Or do you just love money?"
