The Voco Grand Central in Glasgow

The Voco Grand Central in Glasgow is a hotel that truly sets the bar high! Having never been to Glasgow before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but from the moment I entered the lobby, I was impressed. Everything was beautifully designed; So elegant and effortless. I was greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality, which only heightened my expectations for the stay. I’m happy to say those expectations were met!

One of the unique architectural features of the Voco Grand Central is that the hotel is connected to Glasgow’s Central Station. I didn’t realise this until I was sipping a cocktail in the hotel bar and looked out the window to see the interior of the station. I found this so fascinating and incredibly clever. It’s a feature that would especially delight any train enthusiast, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to them.

After checking in, we headed to our room, and wow! What an incredible room we were given! The grand navy-blue door was just the start. When I stepped inside, my eyes widened, it was huge! No exaggeration, the ceiling was so tall you could fit a giraffe in there...actually, scratch that a whole family of giraffes! The bathroom was equally impressive, with an elegant design that made for the perfect setting for a relaxing bubble bath later on. Of course, I had to test the bed, and it was soooo comfy. The soft yet firm mattress and the massive size had me sleeping like a baby.

As for the interior design, I was absolutely obsessed! The restaurant was right up my alley, with decor featuring a perfect mix of books and plants, my ideal combination. Throughout the hotel and restaurant, there was a stunning contrast of blues, pinks, greens, golds, and dark wood tones that worked beautifully together. My favourite part of the hotel, though, has to be the grand staircase. Every time I walked up or down it, I had my own little princess moment. You’re probably thinking, “Really? Over a staircase?” But let me tell you, this staircase exudes main-character energy, and it’s impossible not to feel a bit upper-class walking on it.

The hotel was impeccably clean and well-maintained. I also had the chance to check out the incredible ballroom, which only added to the fairytale vibes. The Voco Grand Central is truly a magical place, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Another aspect of the interior that really stood out to me was the different animal emblems located throughout the hotel. These emblems were also worn as small badges by the staff. I inquired at reception, and I was told that these badges represent the staff and their respective departments, corresponding to their duties. I found this concept both unique and creative, as well as a stylish way to maintain order within the hotel.

The staff were incredibly friendly and polite, from the moment we were greeted at check-in with smiles and warm faces to our checkout, when they wished us safe travels to our next destination. Everyone was well-presented and professional.

As an admirer of old architecture, the only disappointing part of my stay was the scaffolding outside the front of the hotel, so I wasn’t able to take a photo of the hotel’s exterior.

Finally, the best part of the review: The food. On our first night in Glasgow, we decided to dine in at the beautiful hotel restaurant, and WOW! What an excellent decision that was, everything tasted incredible and gave off bougie, fancy vibes throughout the evening.

From start to finish, our two-night stay was fantastic, and I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Glasgow. I look forward to my next stay at the Voco Grand Central, possibly around Christmas time, as I was told they decorate extensively for the holidays, and I absolutely love Christmas!
