GAIL’S Bakery Review

I love Bakeries! I love cakes, I love cookies, I love pastries and bakeries are food heaven, On my trip to London this time round I decided to check out some bakeries and as I entered GAIL’S Bakery I was hit with Intoxicating aromas of freshly baked bread, sweet treats of all kind and fresh coffee, all the things that make a bakery irresistible. Being in this place I was so in love with all it offered I just knew more people needed to know about GAIL’S Bakery.
I have always loved the idea since I was a little girl of owning a bakery, however, my baking skills well let's just say I don’t think I would make it very far in the British bake off haha. Of course, when I was little I was very imaginative with ideas and decor for my dream bakery, But now if someone asked me how I would want my bakery to look, I guess all I could say is GAIL’S. An elegant simple aesthetic design with a modern touch to it from the layout, to the colours, to the displays, everything complimented so well together, in particular, I loved the greenery around some of the walls, the main lights in the jars hanging from the ceiling, and the unit displaying uncut loaves of bread and jars of sweet tasting flavours of Jams, Honeys and Marmalades.
Does anyone else feel like you know you’ve hit a certain age when you get excited over things such as the elegant silver water jugs, individual silver trays used to carry your food and drink, and the simple yet sophisticated black teapots served with the tea, haha, I mean I’m a sucker for cute things like that, which made this place even more to my liking?
Everyone knows first impressions are very important and when speaking to the woman behind the counter she was straight away very polite, friendly and helpful. I wasn’t sure what to try as I could see displayed a few of my favourites but I was contemplating trying something new, different, and a little out of my comfort zone and after the lady recommended a few I got an assorted box to try. The showcasing of the pasties was stunning, very generous sizes, well presented,

fairly priced and all very tasty looking. I love how everything looked so effortless, I loved the simplicity of it all from my tray of English tea to the sweet and savoury treats I tried. Also, I found little personal touches to this bakery that made it even more likeable; For example on the day I went to GAIL’S it was extremely hot anyone in the UK will remember the heatwave we had and I liked that there were jugs of water and glasses available to all customers, it was thoughtful and a little personal touch that stood out for me.
I have worked and managed a coffee shop before and I know how hard it can be at times but when you have an excellent team things run a lot smoother, the atmosphere is happier and the customer service is better than ever. From the moment I entered GAIL’S I received nothing but excellent customer service, The staff was very friendly and polite and as I watched I saw a very happy, friendly, well-running team working together. I also loved the diversity of staff showcasing what I like to call “ The community of London” It to me showed more than just a group of people working, to me it showed a team of people from all different backgrounds putting positivity, great collaboration and a more powerful image that I think many would realise. I also liked the fact that GAIL’S bakery doesn’t give off a corporate feel which I found refreshing, its unique style, positive atmosphere and huge amount of creativity flowed through the entire bakery. Whilst I sat enjoying my English breakfast tea and tasty treat box it was clear to see GAIL’S Bakery is a very popular spot, So popular in fact that a few times the line of customers was going out the door but the service remained excellent, professional, and quick and none of them shied away from any particular job. A job well done to the staff at GAIL’S Bakery at Bankside, you set the bar high for other bakeries.

Of course, I review the assorted box of bakery goodies so keep reading because up next are the taste reviews and star ratings of just a few of GAIL’S goodies.
Almond Croissant ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Now I have never really been a fan of almonds but the croissant itself wasn’t too bad, not my goto pastry because the almonds just aren’t for me, however, it looked and smelled incredible that delightful sound you get as the pastry tears apart, that golden brown colour well cooked on the outside and the nice fluffy texture on the inside. As said the one part that didn’t sit well with me was the almonds but you can’t have an almond croissant without almonds Alex so this wasn’t the one for me, however, I do feel this is a perfect choice for all the almond croissant lovers out there.
Blueberry Muffin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ok so firstly I’m not a fan of fruit muffins, usually, they have lumps of blueberries or raspberries which just isn’t a bit of me, however, I loved the crispy edges and as you move into the middle a nice, soft fluffy texture. The blueberry taste was lovely, Its smooth texture and sweet taste was spot on for someone who is a fan of fruity muffin I could have eaten another 3 of them, Gails changed my opinion on blueberry muffins for life.
Cheese Twist ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Did someone say cheese? As many of you know I’m a bit of a cheeseaholic so was very excited about this treat; I Love the smell of cheese, I love the taste of cheese and this cheesy treat went down well, as a treat. It was perfectly cooked on the outside and as I bite into it and the crispy sound filled my ears, the cheesy taste on my tough it was cheeserific yes that's right I said the word cheeserific, I very rarely go for a savoury choice when it comes to pastry goodies but cheese twists excellent choice.
Chocolate and tahini Bite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was confident that I would enjoy this Chocolatey goodness cause well derrr it's chocolate and we all know I’m a chocoholic but what I was baffled by was what the hell is Tahini? Well, I checked it out and for anyone else asking the same question, Tahini is a Middle Eastern condiment from toasted ground hulled sesame, learn something new every day right? What I enjoyed about this was that it wasn’t sickly, it was like a mix of a chocolate cake and a brownie, with a soft moist texture and a very unique sweet treat. I also like the small portion I felt that it was not too much not too little just right.
Pistachio, Lemon and rose ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
These fancy flavours are not usually my go-to flavours but I loved trying something different, something unexpected yet delicious. The texture had quite a satisfying feel to it the texture was lovely and soft with just the right about of crumble, and the flavours combined well together. I was sceptical due to the flavours being so adventurous to me but the flavours didn’t overpower each other and were surprisingly sweet. I also was fond of the simplicity of the design fitting in well with the decor of the place and ended up being a favourite of mine, it was not what I would call your traditional bakery treats but an excellent choice and I highly recommended you try this naughty, tasty and yet refreshing sponge delight.
Peach and Cinnamon Crumble ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one was a surprise I was already a bit dubious of the flavours as I had never had something that was a combination of peach and cinnamon but wow! The flavours went very well as a duo, I wasn’t sure what to expect but this sweet, fruity and wonderfully crumbly crumble left my taste buds dancing and I would recommend trying this if you want to try something out of your comfort zone.
Cinnamon Bun ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A more traditional pastry you would see at a bakery is a nice, soft pastry with a strong sweet taste of cinnamon. What I love about this pastry was the beautiful unique shell shape design, it was very creative and a fun little twist from the traditional bun shape and I also preferred that it didn’t have icing all over it as it made it less messy and less sickly after a few bites.
I have always been a fan of the saying, “They don’t need to be fancy, they just need to be good” But In Gail's case, there was something for everyone some fancy, some traditional but all good, great, no scratch that they were all excellent, So go grab a coffee, tea or maybe something cold and a delicious naughty treat, take the weight of your feet, sit back and catch up with friends, family or just have a little you time.
