Respect Not Reject: Acceptance Of All
I believe that everyone should be free. I believe everyone should have the right to love who they want, to share their life with who they want. I want others to believe that there is a better version of life and that we all deserve to find our happiness and to be accepted for who we are and who we love.
Let’s be clear I am a straight woman writing this so before any readers out there start saying “clearly she is in the community”, I’m not but I’m a supporter of the community, a supporter of people being who they want to be. However I’m still trying to educate and understand it all to my best ability respectfully it's not as straightforward… no pun intended, with 11 different sexualities and definitions and new abbreviations it’s a lot to keep up with. I respect everyone has rights so in respect of that I educate myself to understand how people choose to live their lives. To be honest, people having different sexualities has never really been a new or surprising thing, from the beginning of time people have always had different sexualities, but now the light is being shined on what for many years people would hide or despised for, people are tired of being treated that way, for being who they are and it’s not right, it’s nasty, disgusting, petty behaviour that needs to stop! These people are sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunties, cousins, grandchildren, mothers, fathers and grandparents we all love and have love to give and that’s all that should matter.
Now from my knowledge, the updated acronym is LGBTQQIP2SAA+ which stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer, intersex, pansexual, two-spirit (2s), androgynous and asexual. We should be talking about how welcoming everyone with an open mind shouldn’t be as difficult as it is, and how it shouldn’t be made out to be a big thing. Why should someone, anyone or even everyone be ashamed for being who they are? Quoting from one of my other pieces “You can’t control who you have feelings and attraction for and to be honest you shouldn’t have to hide that. Love comes in many different forms, but at the end of the day, love is love whether you love men, women or both. Whether you're a man that wants to be a woman or a woman that wants to be a man or you're identified as neither honestly every person has the right to be their true selves”.
No one will ever fully understand what it's like to be Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans or any other sexuality unless they are experimenting with this sexuality or experiencing this sexuality, but it doesn’t matter what someone’s sexuality is and it doesn’t define someone it’s just a part of who they are. People don’t get abused mentally or physically for being straight so why should anyone be for any other sexuality? When the word “unnatural” is used I become disappointed in the people of our planet just because it’s different doesn’t make it unnatural! We embrace new and unique every day so why stop when people want to embrace their true selves?
You don’t have to understand everything somethings can’t be explained but you can respect, be kind and open-minded and Embrace each other's unique lifestyles. If it’s not hurting anyone should it even be a discussion?
Just take a second and think if it was someone in your family or friends would you see them differently? Would you disown them? Would you be ok with losing someone you care for so dearly all because of the sexuality they chose? I don’t care I will never stop loving and caring for the people I have in my life just because they have different sexualities.
Would you?
Disclaimer: As I said previously I’m still educating myself in the correct and respectful terms towards the LGBTQQIP2SAA+ community and hope within my writing that is shown.
