There’s something so special about Christmas trees, they’re the heart of the festive season. Whether it’s the twinkling lights, the sparkle of the baubles, or that magical moment when the star goes on top, the tree is what truly makes a home feel like Christmas. But when it comes to choosing the tree, the big question always comes up: do you go real or artificial?
Let’s start with the real tree lovers. You can’t deny the magic of walking into a room and smelling that fresh pine scent, it’s pure Christmas. There’s something so special about picking out the perfect tree, wrestling it into the car, and decorating it while needles mysteriously appear everywhere. A real tree has character, it’s imperfect, unique, and instantly brings that cosy, traditional Christmas feeling. Plus, there’s something wholesome about choosing a new one every year, it’s a little tradition in itself.
Then there’s the artificial tree crew, and that’s where I sit proudly. As much as I adore the idyllic idea of a real Christmas tree, I’ll always stick to artificial. It’s easier, more practical, and definitely better cost-wise in the long run. No mess, no endless trail of needles, and no trying to fit a huge pine into the car boot. Once it’s up, it’s good to go, perfectly shaped, ready for lights and baubles, and no watering required. I love that you can reuse it year after year and even change the style depending on your theme.
In my family, we’ve got the full maximalist Christmas magic going on; Multiple trees, all different sizes and styles, spread throughout the house. From snowy branches to classic greens and even a few mini ones, it’s a mix of everything, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s fun, festive, and totally us.
So, which team are you? Do you love the nostalgic charm and fresh scent of a real tree, or do you prefer the ease and sparkle of an artificial one?
For me, it’s artificial all the way, because when it comes to Christmas, I’ll take twinkly lights, no mess, and stress-free setup every time. After all, once the decorations are up and the music’s playing, it’s Christmas either way!
