I love flowers and all things floral; The different colours, the way they grow and shape, and the unique touch each plant has. It’s nature’s beauty, and tulips are a gorgeous flower that grows with fantastic vibrant colour. For the last couple of years, I’ve really wanted to check out Tulley’s tulip garden and this spring, I finally got to experience it and it was wonderful!

First, let’s talk about the entrance, From the moment we arrive, we could already catch glimpses of the tulips as the colours effortlessly pierced through the trees and bushes. You enter through a barn-style building where you get a stamp on your hand to show you’ve paid and then, as you walk out the other side, you’re greeted by a massive open area with food stalls, seating options, photo opportunities, and of course, the trail that takes you to the tulips. It was absolutely brilliant, so much colour and everything looked so fun and spring themed!
Now onto the best part and the real reason I went: The tulips! It was incredible, Flower fact; Did you know Tulips originated in Central Asia, but the reason they are a favourite among the Dutch is because they became a major part of their history during the 17th-century “Tulip mania,” when they were considered a luxury. As we walked through the tulip fields, I was surprised to see so many unique styles. Obviously, there were the typical classic tulips everyone recognises, but some were so different and unique. Check out the photos I’ve shared you can see just how beautifully they stand out! I loved so much of this experience, and seeing tulip varieties I didn’t even know existed made me appreciate them even more.

After taking photos and admiring the beautiful flowers, we decided to get some food and oh my God, we had the oven-baked pizza from @Barebonespizza and WOW! any pizza lover knows that oven-baked is the way to go. Ours was mouthwatering, with perfectly thick melted cheese and juicy tomatoes, plus some vegetables that were cooked to perfection. They still had a slight crunch, just the way I like it! It was one of the most amazing pizzas I’ve ever had. The only downside was that Elliott and I decided to share one because we thought it would be too big, but we were so hungry that we could have easily finished one each.

Since we had room we decided to treat ourselves to a sweet treat too and had some Dutch pancakes. Of course, a tulip garden has to have dutch pancakes! They were delicious I had mine with Oreo crumble and kinder bueno sauce, and Elliott had biscoff sauce and biscoff crumble. We tried each other’s and can confirm they were both delicious.
All the staff at the food stalls were super friendly, smiley, and helpful, which made the experience even better. The prices were also reasonable which was surprising because usually, events like this hike their prices, but everything was really fair And will deftly eat again.
After all the excitement, I thought there wouldn’t be any more great surprises, but then we walked into the “ Tulip Boutique” OH MY GOD! It was one of my favourite parts! I love a good gift and souvenirs shop, but what I didn’t expect (and thought it was an incredible touch) was their “Pick & Mix” for tulips that’s right, a tulip pick and mix!!!!
As you can see from the pictures, there were rows of beautiful Silver buckets filled with all kinds of tulips. You could pick your favourites and create your own bouquet. I absolutely loved this ideated without hesitation, I grabbed a bucket and started choosing mine. I was also impressed with the prices it worked out to £1 per stem, which is really cheap, especially given how expensive flowers are these days. We took our time choosing which styles and colours to go for, Elliott even enjoyed helping pick them out, Then for just £2 extra they would wrap it all into a beautiful bouquet. Of course, I couldn’t resist, and it was so worth it because the bouquet was gorgeous!
To top it all off, I was hoping to find a pin for our UK travel cork-board. Anyone who follows my social media knows that every time Elliott and I travel somewhere in the UK, we get a pin to add to it. At first, I couldn’t see any pins, and I was really disappointed. But just as I was paying, I mentioned it was a shame they didn’t have any pins, and the lady at the till said there were actually some behind me on the other till. It was The icing on the cake, it made me so happy! It is a beautiful little pin it’s literally my flowers as a pin!
It was such a lovely Sunday day out, and it will forever be one of my favourite memories. Now, I just have to wait for the lavender fields and the sunflower events to open and trust me I’ll bring you along on the journey!
