Over the last almost four years, Devon has truly become a second home to me. From my very first trip with Elliott, every visit to see family and friends has included a little adventure on the side. Devon is a beautiful, peaceful, and calming place, and I don’t think many people realise just how much it has to offer. So, I thought I’d share some of my favourite places and experiences in Devon with you.

Bigbury Beach

I absolutely love the beach, but in Kent, they’re not as close as I’d like them to be. In Devon, however, it feels like there’s a beach around every corner. The first one Elliott ever took me to was Bigbury Beach, and it’s still one of the most amazing places I’ve been. We try to visit whenever we can, and it’s incredible every time. When the tide comes in, it completely hides the bridge from Bigbury Island to the beach. The water covers the sand, and the only way across is by sea tractor yes, you read that right! We haven’t managed to go on it yet, but it looks like so much fun and is definitely on my list. The beach itself is a dream: Clear water, soft sand that sinks between your toes… my happy place, my tranquil oasis. (Read more in my blog posts: “The Devon Sea to Sand” and “My Happy Place.”)

Pier One

Pier One is a café/bar perched right on the side of a cliff yes, a cliff! It might sound unusual, but it’s magical. The design is simple yet striking, and the food is just as impressive. If you’re a cheese lover like me, you have to try their halloumi fries they’re absolutely delicious. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, and the inside is glass-fronted so you can enjoy stunning ocean views no matter where you sit. Definitely a spot worth visiting.

Pottery Painting at China Blue

I’ve wanted to try pottery painting for as long as I can remember, and Devon’s China Blue is the perfect place to do it. Alongside pottery, they offer a variety of other arts and crafts. There’s also a lovely café and a shop full of beautiful things. This was a recent discovery for me, and I was so pleased with my creations. If you’re feeling creative, I can’t recommend it enough.

Elizabethan Gardens

This little hidden gem in the Barbican is a gorgeous garden tucked away behind the cobbled streets. There’s history here (I won’t spoil it for you!) and a charming café to enjoy. If you’d like to see more before visiting, check out my vlog on Instagram or read my full article on the Elizabethan Gardens it’s worth the trip.

Trago Mills Leisure Park

On the surface, it’s a massive store that sells pretty much everything at bargain prices but the real magic is hidden at the back of the garden centre. You’ll find beautiful scenery, historic-style buildings, grand statues, wisteria draped across architectural facades, peacocks roaming freely, quaint little cottages, and Japanese-style bridges with water dancing beneath them. It feels like stepping straight into a storybook.

Endsleigh Garden Centre

I adore a good garden centre, and Endsleigh is one of the biggest and best I’ve been to. There’s a huge variety of plants, gifts, and homeware, plus a fantastic café that serves hearty breakfasts and incredible cakes. The staff are friendly, and every visit feels welcoming.

Jazz Interiors

I’m a sucker for fun, quirky, and unique home décor shops and Jazz Interiors in Ivybridge ticks all those boxes. They sell a beautiful selection of home decorations, gifts, and more. Over the years, I’ve bought several pieces from here and can vouch for their excellent customer service, fair prices, and gorgeous products.

Mila’s Bakery

If you know me, you know I love a bakery especially brownies! Mila’s Bakery is one of the best I’ve found in Devon. Their brownies come in a variety of flavours, and they’re as creative as they are delicious. If you have a sweet tooth, you won’t be disappointed.

The Barbican & My New Favourite Eatery – Fig and Thyme

The Barbican isn’t just one spot it’s a whole area filled with cobblestone streets, historic buildings, quirky shops, and waterfront charm. It’s perfect for a day of browsing, eating, and soaking in the sunshine. My latest discovery here is Fig and Thyme, a delightful boho-inspired brunch spot. I recently reviewed it on my blog Click Here, it’s already become one of my must-visit places whenever I’m in town.

The Hoe

The Hoe is a beautiful waterfront stretch connecting the Barbican to Pier One. My favourite feature is the iconic lighthouse you can actually go inside and explore. I haven’t yet, but it’s high on my list. The views over the water are breathtaking, especially on a sunny day. Devon has truly become a home from home for me. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and endlessly charming. The water is so clean, the air is fresh, and there’s always something new to discover. I’ll always be grateful to Devon not just for its beauty, but because it’s where the person I fell in love with calls home.
