Fortitude Bakery

Fortitude is all about bakes, buns, and coffee, but the question is: how good are they? I was really intrigued by this bakery, as it didn’t have the typical bakery vibes. The layout was so unusual and unique, which is why it caught my eye. Then I saw the sweet and savoury baked goods and smelled that enticing bakery aroma, and I was hooked on finding out if Fortitude bakery was as great as it looked and smelled.

For my savoury choice, I went for a Spinach and Feta puff pastry. Firstly, the puff pastry was a massive portion size! I mean huge. What do they puff their pastries with? As I’ve already stated, everything looked and smelled amazing, and I love any pastry that has spinach and feta, so I just had to know how good it tasted. I can confirm it was soooo good! The flaky pastry was perfect, flaky but not too flaky, and the feta and spinach were delicious, no doubt there. I can’t get over the size of this bad boy and how affordable the price was. This is an easy 10/10 for me, just the way I like it.

Now, you can't leave a bakery without getting something sweet, it's just the rule, and I was really curious because, to me, a Caramel Cream Beignet was not your usual baked good. But this was a very beautiful looking baked good, and the combination of pastry, cream, and caramel all in one was so creamy, sweet, and thick. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this baked good, but man was it good! I actually think I could have just sat there and eaten a bowl of the caramel cream. It was a little addictive, can't lie, and I can happily give this a score of 8/10.

Now, I did purchase a second sweet treat that looked incredible but was way out of my comfort zone. I was really excited to try it just because it looked and sounded amazing. Unfortunately, the Caramelised Banana Danish with Lime Cream was not for me. I would describe the taste as an acquired taste, not necessarily bad, but I felt the lime was just too overpowering and did not play well with the other ingredients. However, the presentation and aroma were on point, so appealing to the eyes and nose, but unfortunately, my taste buds just weren’t dancing for this one. I'm very disappointed that I wasn't a fan as it looked incredible, but hey, can't like everything. This leads me to give this a 3/10.

Fortitude is onto something really great. The customer service was on point with very polite, friendly staff who really knew what they were selling, and they sold with a smile. Prices, in my personal opinion, were very fair for the products themselves. It was a tough decision on what I wanted to get as I did also have my eye on the chocolate brownie (because we all know I’m a sucker for a brownie), the bun with custard, and the coconut and almond little bug. But don’t worry, I can't try just three of their vegetarian products; I need to try them all. So stay tuned for the next batch of Fortitude bakery taste testing.
