The Ivy Review

Bougie AF! The Ivy is hands down one of the fanciest restaurants I’ve eaten at in a long time. Every corner of this restaurant oozes sophistication, luxury, and elegance. I was absolutely obsessed with the dark green sofas, and my favourite detail had to be the adorable little ivy-shaped gold cardholders they were just so charming! The energy was incredible from the moment I stepped through the doors. The exotic jungle vibes and bursts of extravagance created an atmosphere filled with smiles, laughter, and excitement.

Now, this is quite a pricey restaurant, so I only ordered a main dish. That’s unusual for me since I’m usually all about the starter, main, and dessert. But, given the price, I decided to skip the extras and splurge on a cocktail instead. I went for the Mango Colada, which I guessed was a piña colada with a mango twist. It was strong, sweet, and creamy, with the mango adding a refreshing touch. However, considering how fancy The Ivy is, I expected a more elaborate presentation for the drink. The taste was great, but the presentation didn’t quite meet my expectations.

For my main, I had the linguine with courgette ribbons, crumbled Greek white cheese, rocket, and a rustic tomato sauce. When the dish arrived, I initially thought the portion looked small, but it turned out to be very filling and absolutely delicious! The courgette ribbons were delightful, and the linguine paired beautifully with the cream cheese sauce. I tried it before adding the tomato sauce and thought it was great, but after mixing in the tomato sauce, the flavours truly came alive. The ingredients complemented each other perfectly, and the cute little gravy boat the tomato sauce came in was a lovely touch.

If I have one regret, it’s not trying a starter or dessert. I had my eye on a cheese soufflé that sounded incredible (and as a massive cheese lover, I’m sure I would’ve loved it). And of course, as a dessert enthusiast, skipping dessert was tough! Hopefully, I’ll get to return to The Ivy and do the whole shebang: starter, main, side, dessert, and cocktail.

The customer service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. I also loved the staff uniforms they had a vintage, old-fashioned charm that reminded me of the uniforms worn by train attendants in the past.

The restaurant’s interior was fun and quirky, with a beautiful mix of greens and jungle-inspired colours. The location had two bar areas one indoors and one outdoors adding to the overall bougie vibe. From the buzzing social atmosphere to the delightful cocktail, exceptional service, and delicious food, it was an exquisite night.
